Lead Full-Stack Engineer


Breef is seeking a Lead Full-Stack Engineer to join our dynamic, fast growing team. As a member of our leadership team, this individual will be responsible for leading the build of new platform innovation and the management of a hybrid/in-house engineering team.

You will be responsible for establishing the structure and vision for the sustained success of Breef’s product, including building + leading Breef’s engineering team both internally and externally. You will partner with leadership and our Director of Product to set and execute Breef’s product roadmap, hone Agile engineering processes, and be responsible for leading and managing the team. You’ll have the chance to lead technical innovation at Breef and ensure that Breef’s technology drives best practices and innovation - ultimately shaping the agency industry at large. 

The ideal candidate understands and embraces the ambiguity of a startup, as they’ve found success in that environment previously. They also have the ability to translate complex technical concepts and communicate with a broad group of non-technical stakeholders. The ideal candidate drives decisions, and can also act as an individual contributor when necessary, especially as we set the foundation to scale our engineering team. Most importantly, they understand how to build delightful customer experiences, and prioritize balancing the customer’s experience with internal technical needs in their execution of tasks.

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Design and implement technical strategies and roadmaps to drive innovation and support the company's growth
  • Align with the larger product team and key stakeholders to define and prioritize product requirements
  • Collaborate with our external development team to inform how + why they build for our goals
  • Architect and build high-value features and product offerings that drive growth and build Breef’s moat
  • Build the Breef engineering team, working with the recruiting team on hiring roadmap, needs, vetting and onboarding of our ‘dream team’
  • Create, own and evolve the engineering policies, processes, and procedures in alignment with Agile best practices, and whatever you deem necessary to maintain the health and integrity of Breef’s engineering org
  • Provide leadership, management, mentorship and technical vision for the larger engineering team 
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, security, reliability and maintainability
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality products, on time, utilizing Agile development methodologies
  • Advise the leadership team on key technical decisions; act as a translator between technical third parties and Breef

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:

  • 8+ years experience as a full-stack software engineer
  • 4+ years leading, managing and hiring engineering teams
  • Prior marketplace or fintech / payments experience a plus
  • You have experience owning software development life cycles and driving technical projects
  • Strong technical skills and experience with a variety of programming languages and technologies (React, Python, PostgreSQL and AWS)
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • A general understanding of the marketing and agency space
  • Bonus: DevOps experience
