Technical Product Manager

NYC / Remote

Breef is seeking a Technical Product Manager to join our dynamic, fast growing team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the Breef Platform by implementing initiatives around our product, collaborating with stakeholders, and improving the overall user experience.

As the Technical Product Manager, you will partner closely with our Director of Product, developers + stakeholders to design and implement improvements across our marketplace. You are technical (or technically-curious), thoughtful towards users, and a collaborative problem solver. You enjoy finding creative solutions to complex issues, and can think through the merits of different paths to get there. As one of the first product hires, you’ll have ample opportunity for ownership and growth as we continue to build out product and engineering at Breef. You’ll get to decide what gets built and why, in addition to figuring out how.

About Us - Breef is the world's first agency marketplace. As the modern outsourcing solution, our platform connects leading brands with leading agencies for all their digital + creative needs. Our product is changing the future of work and is a first-of-its-kind solution for high-value transactions.

Please submit your cover letter + resume to careers@breef.com — subject “Technical Product Manager”

Your day to day is to…

  • Partner with operations, marketing, engineering, and the rest of the product team to identify the largest opportunities to improve our business
  • Become an expert on the Breef user, with a deep understanding of why customers use our platform, where they find the most value, and where there are new opportunities to further win the market
  • Build business cases to effectively prioritize amid ambiguity, and communicate up to stakeholders. You’ll drive changes that immediately impact how we meet user needs
  • Work with a team of developers and designers to implement product updates, workflow optimizations, testing, and feedback
  • Lead proof-of-concepts, at times building these yourself while we scale our team
  • Ensure tasks are thoroughly scoped and documented with clarity for engineers to carry forward, and stakeholders to reference in an Agile environment
  • Be hands-on to help solve bugs and daily product needs as they arise - we’re a startup!
  • Live and breathe data to make our product and user journey better
  • Embody the mission and vision of Breef with an understanding of how and why we do what we do

You'll be successful in this role if you have…

  • 2+ years of experience in product or as a software engineer, ideally for a B2B marketplace / SaaS business or a financial technology organization
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • Proven record of successful product outcomes - bonus points if in a high growth environment
  • Experience building an app yourself, or can share examples of more technical side-projects
  • Ability to blend prioritization and tactical execution skills; you don’t mind diving into the weeds to execute
  • Ability to deconstruct and articulate complex concepts across stakeholders with a variety of skill sets
  • Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, and data analysis
  • Full-stack engineering experience (React and/or Python skills are a plus)
  • Proven understanding of Agile values and principles, and how to effectively use them in an early-stage environment
  • Experience with workflow management tools such as Jira & Asana
  • Experience with prototyping tools such as Figma or Adobe XD
  • Experience with modern + remote workplace tools (Google Suite, calendar booking systems, Slack, email workflow systems, etc)

You'll enjoy this role if you are…

  • Excited by the opportunity to build, and leave your mark on an early stage, high growth startup
  • A systems thinker - you’re curious about how pieces fit together and enjoy finding solutions that have a broad impact
  • Competitive with a desire to grow and learn
  • Have a knack for using data to solve problems, identify opportunities, and are capable of inventing and using new metrics in order to learn and make decisions
  • Self-starter. You make good decisions with incomplete data and are constantly optimizing for learning
  • Accountable and constantly looking for opportunities for improvement. You don't accept "because that is the way we've always done it” and instead you ask “why have we done it this way?” and offer up new ideas
  • Excited to roll up your sleeves and be part of a collaborative startup team

Benefits

  • Positive, family and team-like environment
  • Opportunity for extreme growth and ownership within the organization
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • Equity in a fast-growth startup
  • Generous vacation and remote work policy‍
