What is Breef?

Breef is the leading platform to help brands find the best agencies. From streamlining project scoping to providing custom pitches from vetted agencies, Breef simplifies the entire process, giving brands everything they need to find and manage agency partners, in one place.

How do I start a project?

Getting started on Breef is simple. Every project starts with a scope. Most brands book a call with a Breef Marketing Strategist to align on goals, deliverables, and budget.

Looking to get started ASAP or on your own? You can use Breef’s Scoping Tool to quickly outline your project and create a custom scope. You can start your first project here.

Once you get started, you’ll receive access to the Breef Platform, where you can manage all project details and receive agency pitches.

How much does Breef cost?

Breef is free to join.

Brands pay a $99 fee to post their first project. This covers scoping support and receiving curated pitches from vetted agencies. We guarantee you'll find the perfect agency.

Agencies join Breef for free. Agencies that win a project pay Breef a 15% referral fee on work for the first 12 months of the engagement (this does not include hard costs).

How much does Breef cost?

Breef is free for agencies to join, and there’s no cost to get invited to projects or submit pitches.

If your agency wins a project, you’ll pay Breef a 15% referral fee on the total project value for the first 12 months of the client engagement. This includes any additional work or expanded scopes within the 12-month period. The fee does not apply to hard costs such as production, media spend, or influencer fees.

All payments are processed to agencies through direct ACH. Brands and agencies are responsible for agreeing on payment schedules, and you can track payment status at any time within your Breef dashboard.

Can clients and agencies work together outside of breef?

No. Breef’s Terms of Use prohibit clients and agencies from engaging in off-platform work. This policy ensures the integrity of our marketplace, and violations may result in suspension and legal action.

How do I get started on Breef?

We welcome all agencies across marketing, digital, creative, and web services. Every application is individually reviewed by our team to ensure that our agency community maintains the high standard of work that our brand partners expect. Once approved, you’ll be eligible to receive curated project opportunities to pitch for.

What is the project posting fee?

Breef charges brands a one-time $99 project posting fee. This unlocks curated agency pitches delivered within 5 business days. The fee covers scope support, agency curation, pitch management, and more.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. All information shared on the Breef Platform, whether by clients or agencies, is treated as confidential. Breef uses a variety of security measures, as outlined in our Privacy Policy, to protect user data.

If needed, you may request individual projects to be “confidential”, which means the client’s identity will not be disclosed until they choose to connect with shortlisted agencies. Parties may also sign confidentiality agreements or NDAs before sharing sensitive information. This is facilitated by Breef.

How long does it take to receive agency pitches?

Once a project is posted, you’ll receive pitches in 5 business days. Agencies are hand-selected for each project to ensure that every team who submits a pitch is the perfect fit.

What is the Breef process for agencies?

Once your application is approved, you’ll be eligible to receive project invitations on Breef. Projects are shared with agencies through direct invitation to ensure they are an excellent fit based on your team’s experience, services and case studies. We consider a variety of factors and do not guarantee the frequency or timing of opportunities.

When you receive a project invitation, you’ll be notified via email and prompted to submit a project pitch through the Platform. Submitting a pitch on Breef takes 15-20 minutes, and we’ll guide you through the process. If you are shortlisted by the client, Breef will set up an introductory meeting and support both parties with next steps from there, which may include follow-up calls, formal proposals, etc.

What is the agency referral fee?

How is financial information handled?

Financial details shared with Breef are securely stored and protected at all times. To maintain confidentiality and ensure secure transactions, all payments must be processed through the Breef Platform.

Is Breef available globally?

Yes, we have brands and agencies in over 25 countries. You can post projects from anywhere in the world (subject to local law). The Breef Platform is governed by the laws of the United States of America. If you are paying outside of the U.S., let your Marketing Strategist know.

The Breef Community is made up of agencies from around the world. Brands can also request that the agency is located in a specific location.

Brands and agencies can contract in whatever jurisdiction they choose; however, you must adhere to Breef’s specific policies around circumventing our service and include our Project Exhibit (including standard terms) in your agreement.

How do I find an agency on Breef?

Finding an agency starts with creating a project scope. Once your scope is posted to the Breef Platform, you’ll receive pitches from agencies, hand-selected for your brand, scope, and goals, from our network of over 25,000 boutique agencies. Get started here.

Clients and agencies are responsible for defining and agreeing to a statement of work and payment terms.

How do I deactivate my Breef account?

To deactivate your account, please email us at support@breef.com

Please note: Even after deactivation, Breef’s policies remain in effect for 24 months. During this time, you may not work directly with clients or agencies you were introduced to on Breef without paying the applicable platform fees, as outlined in Breef’s Terms of Use. This applies to any new or ongoing projects within that period.

What laws govern the Breef platform?

Breef is governed by U.S. law, specifically the State of New York. While clients and agencies may include their own legal terms in project agreements, users must not bypass Breef’s role in managing projects, payments, or proposals, in accordance with our Terms of Use.
